Made from rebar and some bike sprockets with chain. The leaves are square stock and welding rod.

I had the bottom part of this (stalk and leaves) made for the longest time, almost two years. I just decided to try and finish it. I think it was sitting around so long because nothing I came up with looked right as a head. This is about the closest so far. I'll probably install it in my front yard.

Thx. I'm on the lookout for more bikes to scavenge...

I stopped collecting them becasue I have so many and haven't done anything with them. I have access to some good stuff sometimes but what you find at your job sounds better! (I've always been curious to know what kind of work you do that you can find such cool debris)

My day job is in computer programing. I used to work for Rockwell Automation and had access the scrap dock there. I recently changed jobs to a national health insurance company, so no more scrap dock. I bike to work every day. My path is past several metal recycling places, so I often find stuff on the road on the way there. I still have friends in Rockwell, and can hit them up for stuff as well.

ahhh the old Allen-Bradley. When I was in high school it was one of the first places to try for a job. In all that time in the hood, I never really knew what they did there lol. Made something. Now I know it was electrical controls. Now computers are everywhere. Was is a crappy place to work?

Not at all, I was there for about ten years. I'm still happy with the company overall, and the details surrounding my departure are complex. Suffice to say that my particular expertise was becoming less valuable, and combined with other changes, I got out before the shiza hit the fana. I would go back if the opportunity arises, but I would need to have a better feeling about the potential job security.
